SUMMARY The FABRICATOR ROLLER OPERATOR Prepares shells for welding by using a shear to cut steel to the correct size and rolling it to obtain proper overlap. Prepares welding machines by utilizing of blueprints to assure proper locations of specifications and sets up machines to attain proper torque values in accordance with specifications. Prepares cartridge-welding machine to insure proper weld of closures. Also welds collars and bottoms of Red Line.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have experience with fabrication equipment as Shear, press brake, drill press, fabricator rollers etc.
- Ability to read standard/metric tape measures
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Use small hand tools whenever needed to perform duties.
DUTIES
- Using a shear cuts sheet steel to proper size for fabricating 10, 20 and 30 pound shells.
- Rolls cut steel into tubular shapes, insuring proper overlap.
- Adjusts both shear and roller when size of shell changes and steel varies uniformity.
- Operates a seam welder and planisher to fabricate 10, 20 and 30 pound shells.
- Using hand tools sets up both machines when shell requirement change, by removal of the mandrel, adjusting arms, adjusting stops, etc.
- Utilizes expander to test and check seam weld.
- Placing metal components into fixtures and using wire feed welder, welds a variety of 10, 20 and 30 pound brackets.
- Adjusts welder, voltage, wire feed, etc., as conditions vary, using MIG welder.
